Registration with the Placer Bus Group commits the parent or guardian
of the rider to a full school year of bus service and payments.
Authority of the Bus Driver
TITLE V, CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS SECTION 14103 STATES: AUTHORITY
OF THE DRIVER: Pupils transported in a school bus or in a school pupil activity bus shall be under the authority of, and responsible directly to, the driver of the bus, and the driver shall be held responsible for the orderly conduct of the pupils while they are on the bus or being escorted across a street, highway or road. Continued disorderly conduct or persistent refusal to submit to the authority of the driver shall be sufficient reason for a pupil to be denied transportation. A bus driver shall not require any pupil to leave the bus enroute between home and school or other destinations. (b) Governing boards shall adopt rules to enforce this section. Such rules shall include, but not be limited to, specific administration procedures relating to suspension of riding privileges and shall be made available to parents, pupils, teachers, and other interested parties.
1. Riders and their parents or guardians must agree to Discipline Policy as outlined below. A parent/guardian will be required to agree to these rules during the registraton process. Parent/guardian agreement in their registraton submission will constitute an electronic signature and agreement for their student.
2. The bus maintains a strict schedule. The driver will not open the
doors for any rider at the bus stop or school once the doors have been
closed in preparation for departure after the scheduled departure time.
3. The Placer Bus Group does not provide supervision at the bus stops
before or after bus departure.
4. General Rules of conduct on the bus:
- Students must stand 12 feet from the bus and not walk toward the
bus until the door opens.
- All students are to be seated quickly and as instructed by the driver
with no arguments.
- Students must remain seated while the bus is in motion.
- Students are not to reach out or lean out of the windows.
- There shall be no eating, drinking or gum chewing on the bus.
- Students will not throw objects in the bus or out or a window.
- Students will refrain from excessive noise, rude, discourteous conduct,
or other unacceptable behavior.
- Each student is responsible for his/her own property. Students are
not to engage in horseplay or touch another student's property without
permission.
- A student may take guests on the bus provided they complete the
occasional ridership form. Please see ridership
eligibility section.
5. Violations:
- Violation of any of the above rules or noncompliance of the bus
drivers orders may result in a verbal or written warning, a suspension
for up to five days, or expulsion from bus ridership depending on
the severity and frequency of the violation(s).
- In the event of a written warning or suspension, the Bus Driver
will issue a written Incident Report, which will require both the
student and parent/guardian to sign and return the Incident Report
to the Bus Driver before being allowed to re-board the bus.
- Appeals are only available for the expulsion of a rider from the
bus and must be in submitted in writing to the Placer Bus Group within
5 days of termination of the student.
Discipline Policy Agreement Between Placer Bus
Group
and Participating Students and Parents/Guardians
Because passenger safety on the
bus is imperative, everyone must accept the absolute authority
of the bus driver over the students during the operation of the
bus.

The bus driver will
issue a written Incident Report describing the student’s
misconduct.

Each offense may
result in a warning or suspension from the bus for one or two
full days.

Each Incident Report
must be signed by the parent or guardian, and accepted/returned
to the bus driver before the student can re-board the bus.

Student refusal
to accept the driver’s Incident Report will result in
a five (5) day suspension for the offense. In such an event,
the Incident Report will be sent by email to the parent or guardian.

A third suspendable
incident during a school year may result in expulsion from the
bus group. Notification of this action will again be done by
email.

The driver’s
decision in issuing an Incident Report is final.

Ridership Eligibility
Returning riders will have a priority registraton period, new rider registration will begin after that. In the event of full capcity, new riders will be placed in a lottery. Placer Bus
Group reserves the right to refuse registration or service to any student for any reason.
Registration Policies:

A $50 annual non-refundable family registration fee is due with registration.

The parent/guardian is responsible for prompt payment of all fees.
If the parent responsible for the fees changes during the course of
the school year, the new responsible party must submit the necessary
contact information to the Treasurer in a timely manner or service
may be terminated. The parent may contact the Treasurer via email
at the below address to transfer the account.

Registration will only be complete after the parent or guardian
receives a notice that the student is registered to ride the bus.
In addition current riders are eligible for the following year reregistration
only if their account is paid in full.

Registration obligates the family to a one year commitment to ride
the bus. If a family wants to withdraw from the bus,or change status
from roundtrip to afternoon only, the Placer Bus Group will forgive
the yearly fee only if a replacement rider(s) is found and when the
current balance is paid in full.

In July, all families will receive an email with pertinent information for the new school year. This will include but not be limited to informaton regarding the operation of the bus group, location of bus stops, schedule, start dates, etc. Be sure to white list placerbusgroup@gmail.com so that you will receive all communications from the bus group.

Occasional Rider: Placer Bus Group will
allow occasional riders to ride between schools and regular bus stops during the afternoons only. The occasional rider must have
their parent or guardian complete the Occasional
Rider Form. This will constitute registration (no registration
fee required) with the Placer Bus Group for occasional rider service
only. The Occasional Rider must present a copy of the signed form
and the required fee to the bus driver each time
they ride the bus. A seat is not guaranteed.

Placer Bus Group reserves the right to impose a fuel surcharge of
up to five percent of annual fees paid

Payment Dates:
- Payment in full—due August 1 (Save $100!)
- 6 equal installment payments from August 1 to January 1
Late Fees, Returned Check Fees:
All payments are due on the first of the month commencing on August
1. If payment is not received by the tenth of the month, a $25 late
fee will be assessed. Payment is made on the date of the credit card
transaction or USPS postmark. If payment is not received by the 15th
of the month, the student may not ride the bus until the account is
current. There will be an additional $25 fee if your check is not
honored due to insufficient funds or for any other reason.
Refund Of Rider Fees:
Registration with the Placer Bus Group commits the parent or guardian
of the rider to a full school year of bus service and payments. If
a substitute rider is found, prepaid fees may be refunded (full months
only prorated to monthly payment plan). Registration Fees are non
refundable.
These Terms and Policies are subject to change
by the Placer Bus Group. Changes to this document will be posted
on the website, PlacerBusGroup.com at least thirty days prior
to implementation. Riders, their parents and guardians are responsible
for checking the website. Riders boarding the bus after to the
new policy's effective date, shall be considered to agree to the
new policy. Should riders, parents or guardians not agree to the
revised terms, they must notify the Placer Bus Group in writing
before the implementation date at the mailing address at the bottom
of this page.
